Cancer can take a serious toll on the human body. Both the disease and the treatment can cause pain, dysfunction, and structural changes that often lead to chronic injuries and disabilities. In their effort to provide care and support for patients along their Cancer Care journey, Compass Oncology is looking for an independent Physical Therapist to help deliver care at our West Cancer Center in Tigard, Oregon. Primary responsibilities for this role include helping patients regain strength and safe mobility, reducing musculoskeletal and neuromuscular pain, facilitating health and recovery of the lymphatic system, and educating patients and their families about how to optimize quality of life during and after cancer treatment. Previous Oncology experience is highly preferred.

Salary Range: $89,794 - $129,896 salaried

**Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise as well as internal employee equity considerations.

Job Scope: Evaluate oncology patients referred for physical therapy services and development a treatment plan to optimize function, mitigate side effects of cancer and its treatments, and reduce/prevent the development of disabilities.
Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate patients and establish an appropriate treatment plan, including therapeutic goals agreed upon between clinician and patient. Perform ongoing assessment of patient's condition and clinical impairments hindering function.
  • Deliver timely treatment according to plan of care and modify plan to meet patient's evolving clinical needs. Treatment may include but is not limited to therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, neuromuscular re-education, gait training, therapeutic activities, use of appropriate and available modalities, all components of complete decongestive therapy for lymphedema, patient/caregiver education.
  • Complete documentation accurately, timely, according to regulatory and state licensure requirements, and within professional standards.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals as necessary to ensure optimal interdisciplinary care.
  • Make clinical recommendations for appropriate DME (such as assistive devices, orthoses, wheelchairs, etc).
  • Ensure optimal patient care and maintain professional growth through regular participation in continuing education.
  • Work closely with community retailers involved with patient care (such as fitters for compression garments or reps with pneumatic pump companies).
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation.
  • Maintain patient confidence and protect clinic operations by keeping all patient information confidential.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment and protect patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies/protocols and complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations.
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Master's or doctoral degree in physical therapy from an accredited university.
  • Active Oregon Physical Therapy License in good standing.
  • CLT required.
  • LANA certification preferred.
  • Current BLS certification.
Experience/Training:
  • Minimum (1-3) years of experience as a physical therapist.
  • Minimum (1) year of oncology experience required.
Other Desired Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task and display flexibility as a member of interdisciplinary team in a fast paced and changing work environment
  • Ability to routinely assess evolving patient condition and exercise independent judgment regarding optimal therapeutic interventions
  • Knowledge specific to breast cancer rehabilitation, including diagnostics, treatment approaches, and side effects of treatments (including postural and scapular dysfunction, axillary web syndrome, lymphedema, radiation fibrosis)
